Ryan Murphy, DPM

Ryan Murphy, DPM, is a knowledgeable foot and ankle surgeon on the team of providers at Hosey and Murphy Foot & Ankle Centers, which has three state-of-the-art clinics conveniently located in Clinton Township, Sterling Heights, and Mount Clemens, Michigan.

Dr. Murphy was born and raised in the Detroit area. He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and earned his doctor of podiatric medicine from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He furthered his education with a residency at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center in Dearborn, Michigan, where he learned modern and advanced surgical techniques for foot and ankle reconstruction.

In his practice, Dr. Murphy specializes in sports medicine, fracture repair, forefoot surgery, and the treatment and surgical correction of ankle pain. He’s a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and has published numerous articles in respected podiatric medical journals.

Outside of his work at Hosey and Murphy Foot & Ankle Centers, Dr. Murphy likes to use his skills to give back to the community. He’s gone on a number of medical missions to remote countries in order to perform surgeries to correct severe deformities in local children.

When he’s not practicing medicine, Dr. Murphy likes to spend time with his wife, kids and dog. He likes to both play and watch sports. He’s a big fan of Detroit teams and enjoys playing tennis, golf, basketball, and more.

Kristen Patterson, DPM, is a skilled foot and ankle surgeon on the team of providers at Hosey and Murphy Foot & Ankle Centers, which has three modern clinics conveniently located in Clinton Township, Sterling Heights, and Mount Clemens, Michigan.

Dr. Patterson grew up in Windsor, Ontario, and graduated from Western University in London, Ontario, in 2009. She earned her doctor of podiatric medicine degree from the School of Podiatric Medicine at Barry University in Miami, Florida, in 2013. After graduating, she went on to complete a residency in forefoot, rearfoot, ankle, and micro-nerve surgery at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Patterson is active in her field. She’s board certified in foot and ankle surgery by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and is also a certified wound care physician. She stays up-to-date on the latest developments in the field by speaking at, and attending continuing education courses. Dr. Patterson is also very active as an attending physician for podiatric surgical residency programs in the area.

When she’s not practicing medicine, Dr. Patterson likes to participate in sports. She used to compete in a young women’s hockey league, and now she regularly competes in running half marathons.

Basil Rafiq, DPM, is an experienced foot and ankle surgeon offering comprehensive podiatric care encompassing non-surgical and surgical interventions. He sees his patients at Hosey and Murphy Foot & Ankle Centers, which has offices located in Clinton Township, Sterling Heights, and Mount Clemens, Michigan.

Dr. Rafiq spent most of his younger years moving from state to state until he attended the University of Cincinnati in Ohio for his undergraduate studies. He then moved to New York City, where he earned his doctorate from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 2019.

After graduation, Dr. Rafiq completed his residency at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania. There, he received intensive foot and ankle surgical training, served as academic chief, and participated in clinical research.

Dr. Rafiq is passionate about his field, as evidenced by his active involvement in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American Podiatric Medical Association. He enjoys learning new techniques in training courses, attending professional conferences, and staying up to date with the latest literature. He has special interests in sports medicine, flatfoot reconstruction, and trauma.

Aside from podiatry, Dr. Rafiq leads an active lifestyle filled with sports and traveling. He is an avid snowboarder, amateur tennis player, and adventure-seeker. In his leisure time, he enjoys watching NBA games. Dr. Rafiq’s latest endeavor is learning to play bass in his free time.

Megan Bergeron, DPM, is a foot and ankle surgeon with experience in conservative and surgical treatment of lower extremity problems. She is currently available to see patients at any of the three convenient locations of Hosey and Murphy Foot & Ankle Centers in Clinton Township and Sterling Heights, Michigan.

Dr. Bergeron was born and raised in metro Detroit. She studied Human Biology at Michigan State University. She then went on to earn her doctorate from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. She returned to Michigan to complete her residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township. During residency, she served as chief resident, participated in research, and received training encompassing all areas of podiatric medicine and surgery.

Dr. Bergeron has comprehensive education, training, and experience in hospital and clinic-based patient care. She excels in all areas of foot and ankle care with specific training and interest in wound care and foot and ankle surgery (including cutting-edge minimally invasive techniques designed to minimize surgical trauma and help patients recover faster). She takes pride in treating all her patients with compassion and respect while helping improve their quality of life. She always looks forward to meeting new patients throughout Macomb County and learning their stories.

Thomas C Hosey, DPM

After an illustrious career spanning four decades, Dr. Thomas Hosey, DPM, has recently retired from the practice of podiatric medicine. Dr. Hosey’s journey in the field has been marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence, compassionate patient care, and a passion for advancing the field of foot and ankle medicine.

Dr. Hosey began his academic pursuits at Michigan State University, where he laid the foundation for his future in medicine. Graduating in 1977, he went on to obtain his doctor of podiatric medicine degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (now known as the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine) in 1981. His dedication to learning didn’t end there; he completed a rigorous residency at St. John North Shores Hospital in Harrison Township, Michigan, further honing his skills and expertise.

Throughout his career, Dr. Hosey has been a trailblazer in foot and ankle reconstruction surgery. His commitment to staying at the forefront of his field led him to pursue board certification in foot and ankle reconstruction surgery, a testament to his unwavering dedication to providing the highest standard of care to his patients.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Hosey has been a beacon of knowledge and mentorship in the medical community. He has generously shared his wealth of expertise through lectures nationwide and has contributed to numerous publications in esteemed medical journals. As a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, as well as a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Michigan State Podiatry Association, Dr. Hosey has played an active role in shaping the future of podiatric medicine.

As Dr. Hosey embarks on this new chapter of his life, his legacy as a highly respected podiatrist, mentor, and community leader will continue to inspire generations of medical professionals to come.
